Product Intro - CBD Softgels 1500

Softgels were one of our most requested products, and we’re excited to announce that we’re finally able to share what we’ve been working on. There’s something to be said about the convenience of CBD in a capsule form and we’d be amiss if we didn’t develop our own.

Similar to what we’ve done in the past with product introduction posts, we’ll be diving into some information about our softgels, some notes about dosage, and other fun facts about them we’re excited to share.

With all that in mind, we hope you’re able to enjoy them as much as we are.

LoFi CBD Softgels | 1500

CBD softgels aren’t a complicated product so there’s no reason to compromise on the quality of ingredients. Fortunately, there aren’t many: Full Spectrum, hemp-derived CBD, and hemp seed oil sourced from farms here in Canada.

Our softgels contain Full Spectrum CBD extract (aka winterized crude), and are made from high-CBD hemp flower sourced in-house from a farm in Alberta. This cultivar was chosen for its high CBD content and minor cannabinoids. From there, our partners at Nextleaf Solutions use an alcohol-based solvent for extraction at their BC facility, followed by in-line winterization and decarboxylation. Once ready, the Full Spectrum extract and hemp seed oil are sent over to Olds Softgels in Alberta for production and bottling. The bottles come from ND Supplies and our master cases from the Great Little Box Company, both located in Richmond, BC.

A Few Other Notes

With the release of our new softgels, we’ve been able to expand our CBD line, covering a bunch of different ways of taking CBD and making our products a bit more accessible for a wider range of people. Capsules come with a certain ease that vaping or oils don’t always have, so we’re glad to be able to offer an alternative.

Additionally, this is our first step to producing a product that’s entirely made of hemp: our CBD is derived from hemp, and we also used hemp oil as the carrier. We’re not that far off from having a bottle made from hemp plastic and potentially even softgel casings too, and we think that’s pretty neat.

We picked a 50mg dose because not only is that better value for your cash, but 50mgs seems to becoming more and more the standard dose – at least from what we’ve been able to assess. Because of the lower bioavailability (how much is being absorbed by your body) of capsules too, we wanted to go with something a little stronger in order to balance things out a little.

For more information about bioavailability or how to get the most out of your capsules, check out the post we wrote here. To summarize quickly though, various studies have observed that eating food with CBD may help to increase bioavailability, specifically food with higher fat contents, like peanut butter, avocadoes, or dark chocolate. However, it’s important to note that this can be incredibly unpredictable and hard to measure. Depending on the foods and amounts eaten, absorption rates vary.

A Bit on Dosage

Despite capsules and edibles being a bit less bioavailable than other methods of taking CBD, we also want to make a point of mentioning dosing. 50mgs is still a lot, especially if you’re just starting out. The whole ‘start low and go slow’ thing is a bit more challenging to do with capsules, so keep that in mind if you’re new to CBD. Also, the 2mgs of THC isn’t anything to scoff at either, particularly if you aren’t used to those levels yet (or are a bit more sensitive to it). Not that we want to deter anyone from trying our softgels, but we also don’t want anyone to have any unwanted or unenjoyable experiences. Best to know what you’re getting into before you get into it, and pace yourself properly.

TL;DR

Softgels may be a simpler product, but when we started out with Lofi, that was the goal: to create simple, high-quality CBD products that a wide range of folks are able to enjoy. Just don’t forget to check your dosage, start low, and go slow.
